JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work shift: 8am-5pm

JOB SUMMARY:

The Acupuncturist provides skilled and safe acupuncture services and/or interventions, in accordance with physician orders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• Master's degree in Acupuncture or related field graduate from an approved program of the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
  
• Two (2) years of experience in providing acupuncture services to the public with the past five (5) years, with a minimum of 1,850 hours of training.
  
• National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) national board certification as a Diplomat of Acupuncture.
  
• Current License as a registered acupuncturist in the state of practice.
  
• Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  
• Knowledge of medical terminology
  
• Knowledge of basic theoretical concepts necessary to the practice of acupuncture
  
• Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to acupuncture
  
• Ability to position the patient appropriately based on the location of selected points, locate the selected points, and use appropriate therapeutic techniques
  
• Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally
  
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  
• Strong interpersonal skills
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) - handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching, reaching
Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.)
