Job Title: Assistant Civil Designer

Location: Phoenix, AZ 85004

Job Type: 5-Month Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $29.03 – $38.33/hr (based on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Openings: 1

Schedule: 100% onsite for first 5 months while on contract, 3-2 hybrid schedule following conversion.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking an Assistant Civil Designer to support a wide range of civil engineering projects for renewable energy clients. This is a hands-on role that will support planning, design, and documentation phases on high-impact infrastructure projects.

This position offers an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team on site design, utility layouts, stormwater systems, roadway design, and more. Ideal candidates will have a foundation in AutoCAD and Civil 3D and be comfortable assisting in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design of civil projects including site development, storm drainage, water/sewer utilities, grading, erosion control, traffic control, and related infrastructure.
  • Support drawing production and design calculations for complex assignments.
  • Create and refine design layouts, mark-ups, and rough sketches.
  • Analyze topographical and geologic data, maps, and reports to inform designs.
  • Interpret and apply applicable design codes and specifications.
  • Complete volume calculations for grading and excavation.
  • Organize and maintain revisions, plot files, and project records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers across disciplines.
  • Maintain adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or related field + 2 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree + 3 years of relevant experience; OR
  • 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and design standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
