Job Description

Assistant Librarian Pt

The Cecil C. Tyrrell Library is establishing a pool of candidates to fill potential evening and weekend part-time, non-instructional librarian positions. Evening shifts are Monday to Thursday, 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm and weekend shifts, Saturday and Sunday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Applications for this position are accepted on a continuous basis. Candidates are contacted and hired as opportunities arise, depending on the college's needs.

Responsibilities include: Research, instructional, and technical support for students and faculty. Reference services in a highly networked environment. Developing library instruction, including web-based materials. Special projects during winter and summer terms.

Requirements: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science Program. Three years of professional library experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Desired skills: Experience in the use of traditional and electronic resources. Working knowledge of library-oriented hardware and software. Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.

Additional Information: The hourly rate for this position is $41.79 (no benefits). Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
