The Payments and Risk organization within Stripe develops products and platforms for efficient payment acceptance, including APIs for processing payments, regional payment options, and in-person payment solutions. The Risk Engineering team minimizes financial and regulatory risks while ensuring a seamless user experience.

We are looking for Backend engineers passionate about managing money at a global scale and building ergonomic APIs. You will help extend our balance management platform and develop a new funds accessibility platform used by enterprises and SMBs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and large-scale systems handling billions of money movement requests.
• Debug and resolve critical production issues across services and stack levels.
• Mentor engineers to foster growth.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop new features, improve standards, tooling, and processes.
• Work effectively in a distributed and hybrid team environment.

Minimum Requirements

• 2-12+ years of industry software engineering experience (excluding internships and co-ops).
• Strong coding skills in any programming language.
• Excellent collaboration skills across workstreams.
• Ability to work autonomously with responsibility and an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Interest in working across technologies and stacks to solve problems and delight users.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale financial tracking systems.
• Knowledge of cloud services (e.g., gRPC, GraphQL, Docker/Kubernetes, AWS).

Work Environment & Benefits

Stripe offers hybrid work, with at least 50% office presence. The annual US base salary ranges from $150,500 to $269,200, with additional benefits including equity, bonuses, 401(k), health benefits, and wellness stipends.
