CDL-Training Program Trainer

Facilitate and deliver CDL-training program in compliance with the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicle Standards for entry level Commercial Driver License Class A training. The curriculum will be provided by WNCC for the Trainer to follow. The Trainer will ensure student and public safety at all times.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

• Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs, making continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods. Courses would include, but are not limited to Class-A and Class B CDL Entry Level Driver Training.
• Develop curriculum within college and departmental guidelines.
• Responsible for managing college CMV vehicles and trailers.
• Responsible for ensuring CMV program is in compliance with federal and state regulations for CMV training.
• Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive student inquiries and complaints.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

This position requires the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Nebraska State Class A CDL license: license must be held for a minimum of 2 consecutive years in the state of Nebraska.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Class A licensed commercial motor vehicle driver.
• Must meet State of Nebraska and WNCC driving record standards. A DMV records check will be completed as part of the application process.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

The following are a plus, but not required:

• Ability to work evenings and Saturdays.
• Previous experience training Class A CDL drivers.
• Previous classroom training experience.

Knowledge:

1. Education and Training Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
2. Transportation Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding commercial motor vehicle training and the CMV industry.
3. Public Safety and Security Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

1. Instructing Teaching others how to do something.
2. Learning Strategies Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
3. Operation and Control Controlling operations of equipment or systems.

1. Training and Teaching Others Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
2. Coaching and Developing Others Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
3. Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or water craft.
4. Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
5. Getting Information Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
6. Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
7. Making Decisions and Solving Problems Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
8. Documenting/Recording Information Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
9. Performing General Physical Activities Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
10. Communicating with Persons Outside Organization Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
11. Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
12. Interpreting the Meaning of Information for Others Translating or explaining what information means and how it can be used.
