Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Certified Medical Coder to join our team. As a key member of the coding department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of medical coding for surgical and hospital outpatient services. You'll play an essential role in reviewing patient medical records, assigning proper codes, and supporting billing processes to ensure smooth and efficient medical payment collection. Key Responsibilities:
Analyze medical records to assign accurate codes for services, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments.
Resolve coding-related billing issues promptly and efficiently.
Code and bill for vascular scans and other medical services.
Assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes for outpatient surgical suite procedures and hospital consults.
Review operative notes for post-surgical consults/charges to ensure correct coding.
Assist with administrative duties as needed, providing backup support when required.
Skills and Experience:
At least 3 years of experience as a Certified Medical Coder, ideally in a busy medical office or hospital setting.
Strong experience with surgical and outpatient hospital coding.
Exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in coding and billing.
Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
Education and Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited medical coding program (AHIMA or AAPC) preferred.
Current and active CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
