About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its senior leadership team. The CFO will be a key partner in maintaining the financial operations, providing insightful reports and analyses, and establishing procedures to ensure the organization's fiscal health. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced financial executive with a background in high-level management, particularly in nonprofit or cultural institutions. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, familiar with generally accepted accounting principles, and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Specific responsibilities for the CFO include managing all financial aspects, acting as the primary staff contact for the Board's finance and investment committees, and developing long-range financial plans in line with the organization's strategic priorities. Applicants for the CFO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with an advanced degree preferred, and 5 to 8 years' experience in a leadership finance role, particularly in cultural or nonprofit settings. Knowledge of GAAP, accrual-based accounting practices, and experience with annual audits are essential. The role also demands a high level of emotional intelligence, strong business instincts, and a proven track record of performance. The CFO will be expected to work closely with the Executive Director, the Board, and various departments to manage budgets, financial reports, and strategic goals. Additionally, the role involves overseeing IT and records retention, supporting retail operations, and managing relationships with external partners. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a collaborative ethos, capable of building consensus and working in a spirit of mutual trust.
