Overview The Dental Insurance Coordinator supports the CDM clinical enterprise by acting as a liaison between patients, students, staff, faculty, and insurance providers. This role coordinates Patient Care Coordinators, Dental Insurance Biller, and other key personnel on matters related to Denti-Cal and private insurance plans, and assists with the resolution of insurance-related issues. The Dental Insurance Coordinator also assists with verifying dental insurance benefits, supports accurate and timely processing of insurance claims, and maintains up-to-date patient insurance records to support efficient clinic operations. Responsibilities Coordinate with Patient Care Coordinators, Dental Insurance Biller, and other key personnel on matters related to Denti-Cal and private insurance plans and issues. Assist with the resolution of insurance-related issues to support efficient clinic operations. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Experience in the policies and procedures of a multi-provider dental practice, preferably within a dental school environment. Dental services billing experience with knowledge of billing for Denti-Cal and private insurance companies. Experience working in an electronic health record and electronic billing. Working knowledge of the laws governing billing and collections efforts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals, students, and patients. Bilingual ability helpful. Experience with computers, Microsoft Office, printers, calculators, fax machines, copy machines, and telephone operation. Required Qualifications Education: Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of administrative experience in a dental office or large dental clinic, with dental insurance billing including Denti-Cal Billing. Knowledge of dental terminology. Experience using dental Electronic Health Record. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with experience in dental education. Experience: Registered Dental Assistant or previous dental assisting experience. Bilingual (Spanish/English).
