Internship Overview

The Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) is seeking a Digital Marketing Intern to join our Marketing & Communications (MarComm) team. This role reports to the Director of Digital Marketing and offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing while learning about economic development in Greater Phoenix. 

As the Digital Marketing Intern, you will coordinate logistics for podcast episodes, including scheduling, setup, and high-quality editing and distribution, while creating engaging sound clips for promotion. Additionally, you will support website editing, focusing on user experience, mobile responsiveness, content management and SEO. Your role will include aggregating news articles that align with GPEC's mission for content creation, monitoring and reporting on website, email, and digital ad metrics, and supporting paid advertising campaigns. You will also craft newsletters, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines. Furthermore, you will contribute to the preparation and logistics for GPEC events, providing on-site support to ensure their success. 

Internship Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for podcast episodes, including scheduling and setup. 
  • Edit podcast episodes and distribute to appropriate channels, ensuring high-quality output. 
  • Create sound clips to promote the podcast, ensuring they are engaging and aligned with the show's brand. 
  • Support website editing and creation, including design, user experience optimization, mobile responsiveness, content management and SEO. 
  • Aggregate news articles that align with GPEC's mission to use in content creation. 
  • Monitor and report on website, email and digital ad metrics. 
  • Support paid advertising campaigns, overseeing project execution and optimization. 
  • Craft newsletters and promotional emails, ensuring alignment with brand standards. 
  • Ensure all collateral elements adhere to brand guidelines. 
  • Contribute to the preparation and logistics for GPEC events. 
  • Provide on-site support during events. 

Desired Candidate Qualifications

We encourage graduates or undergraduate juniors/seniors studying marketing, communications, public relations, or related fields to apply. While previous work or internship experience is preferred, we consider all interested applicants. Ideal candidate qualifications include: 

  • Familiarity with digital marketing concepts and common platforms. 
  • Proficient in monitoring website, email and digital ad performance data. 
  • Analytical mindset to suggest and implement improvements based on data insights. 
  • Creative skills for developing compelling ad copy and visuals, including knowledge of AP Style, copywriting best practices and SEO keyword strategies. 
  • Attention to brand guidelines for consistent design elements. 
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) for website content management such as WordPress. 
  • Knowledge of SEO strategies and best practices. 
  • Organizational skills for coordinating podcast logistics. 
  • Understanding of podcast editing techniques. 
  • Experience creating and executing email marketing campaigns. 
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure brand standards in newsletters and emails. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Sharp attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong desire to learn and grow professionally. 
  • Highly motivated to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Open and receptive to both receiving and providing constructive feedback. 

Internship Details

The hourly wage begins at $15.00 per hour, and the minimum commitment is 20 hours per week for at least six months. This role reports to the Director of Digital Marketing.
