Premier Food Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Legends and ASM Global , is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Director of Finance for an immediate opening at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack in Del Mar, California . This high-profile venue is home to iconic events such as the San Diego County Fair , Live Summer and Fall Horse Racing , and the Breeders’ Cup in Fall 2025 .

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Finance will lead the financial management of the Del Mar facility, overseeing budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, audit compliance, and strategic planning. This role is pivotal in supporting large-scale events and ensuring financial health and transparency across the business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage all financial activities including planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and financial procedures in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, reports, and budgets for both internal stakeholders and parent companies.
• Partner with operational departments to provide financial insights and support data-driven decisions.
• Maintain relationships with our clients 22nd Agricultural District and DMTC.
• Analyze business performance metrics, event profitability, and cost efficiencies.
• Oversee daily financial operations including AP/AR, cash management, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Direct the preparation of event settlements and post-event financial summaries.
• Manage capital planning and forecast cash flow needs and investment strategies.
• Administer local, state, and federal tax compliance, including payroll and sales taxes.
• Coordinate with external auditors and implement audit recommendations.
• Maintain accurate inventory and cost accounting records across food and beverage operations.
• Supervise and develop the finance team, ensuring strong leadership, training, and accountability.
• Collaborate with corporate finance teams at Legends and ASM Global to align reporting and strategy.
• Support union labor contract administration and maintain effective working relationships with union representatives.
• Continuously improve financial systems, reporting tools, and process automation.
• Serve as Manager on Duty during major events and operational periods as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in financial leadership, preferably in venue, hospitality, or event environments.
• In-depth understanding of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial management software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Experience managing confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

• Competitive salary range expected to be 100k – 110k, commensurate with experience
