Julie A. Goldberg is the founder and principal of Goldberg & Associates, P.C., She is a nationally recognized trial and appellate attorney in complex federal litigation, civil rights, and immigration, Ms. Goldberg is noted for rigorous legal analysis and unwavering integrity. Her notable matters include Guerra v. Shanahan , 831 F.3d 59 (2d Cir. 2016); Hadwan v. U.S. Dep't of State , 340 F. Supp. 3d 351 (S.D.N.Y. 2018); a landmark habeas victory in Al-Sadeai v. U.S. Immigration & Customs Enf't , No. 3:19-cv-02081 (S.D. We seek a Federal Litigation l with a strong work ethic, schedule flexibility, and an ownership mentality to help drive a high-volume, multi-jurisdiction docket across U.S. district courts and courts of appeals. Under attorney supervision, you will manage matters from intake through judgment and appeal, serving as the day-to-day engine for complex cases involving APA/mandamus, habeas, FOIA, and related constitutional/statutory claims. You will be responsible for rules-based deadline control (FRCP, FRAP, and Local Rules), CM/ECF filing across multiple jurisdictions, precise document assembly (OCR, bookmarks, exhibits, declarations, proposed orders), and rigorous quality control (Bluebook accuracy, record citations, sealed/redacted filings, protective orders). You will research and format discovery and procedural/administrative motions (e.g., motions to compel, protective orders, discovery sanctions, motions to continue or extend time, motions to seal/redact, substitute/withdraw counsel, amend/correct filings, and local-rule administrative motions), as well as supporting declarations, notices, and proposed orders; assist with filing oppositions and replies as assigned; finalize pretrial filings; and file and calendar appellate papers (initiating documents, appendices/excerpts of record, tables, certificates). You will monitor PACER, manage ECF notices, deficiency cures, and service proofs; maintain calendars, ticklers, and briefing matrices; conduct targeted legal research with LexisNexis/Lexis+ (including Lexis+ AI); and build hearing and TRO/PI binders. You will also coordinate third-party vendors (court reporters, interpreters, records retrieval, process servers, e-discovery/trial graphics/printing), ensure evidentiary and confidentiality protocols are followed, and communicate professionally with clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and court staff.

** All legal work is performed under the supervision of licensed attorneys.

• Draft, format, and file discovery and administrative motions (e.g., motions to compel, for protective order, for discovery sanctions, to continue or extend time, to seal/redact, to amend/correct filings, to substitute/withdraw counsel, oppositions, replies), with supporting declarations, exhibits, and proposed orders.
• Assist with TRO/PI (Rule 65) papers and hearing materials (e.g., binders, exhibit indices, proposed orders) as assigned; ensure compliance with local rules and judge-specific procedures.
• Create and maintain tables of contents and tables of authorities; ensure Bluebook citation accuracy and precise pin cites.
• Prepare Rule 26 disclosures, exhibit lists, witness lists, and other pretrial filings; organize deposition and hearing binders.

Docketing, Deadlines & Filing

• Calculate deadlines under FRCP, FRAP, and applicable Local Rules (and state analogs); maintain rules-based calendars and deadline matrices.
• File via CM/ECF and state e-filing systems; manage ECF bounces/deficiency cures; maintain service proofs and certificate compliance.
• Monitor PACER dockets; track orders, briefing schedules, and hearing settings; prepare status reports for attorneys and clients.

Research & Writing Support

• Conduct targeted legal and factual research using LexisNexis/Lexis+ (incl. Lexis+ AI) and court/library resources; Shepardize/KeyCite as appropriate.
• Draft research memos, fact chronologies, cite tables, and concise advocacy sections for motions, oppositions, and replies.
• Assist with FOIA litigation filings and evidence management.

Appellate Support (U.S. Courts of Appeals & State Appeals)

• Prepare notices of appeal, docketing statements, appendix/excerpts of record, and word-count certifications; manage service and filing per circuit rules.
• Calendar FRAP and circuit-specific deadlines; coordinate Rule 28(j) letters and supplemental authorities.

Trial/Hearing & Vendor Coordination

• Coordinate court reporters/videographers, interpreters, process servers, records vendors, e-discovery/hosting, trial graphics, and printers.
• Manage exhibit labeling, Bates stamping, OCR/bookmarks, PDF/A compliance, and sealing/redaction protocols.

Client & Team Communication

• Maintain professional, timely communications with clients; capture time entries accurately; document all actions in the CMS.
• Collaborate across offices to balance workload and ensure consistent work product standards.

• 3+ years of paralegal experience in federal litigation (district and/or appellate); exposure to state-court practice.
• Proficiency with CM/ECF, PACER, and at least one state e-filing system; familiarity with local rules and judge-specific procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to calculate and manage deadlines across multiple jurisdictions; impeccable organization and follow-through.
• Strong drafting, editing, and Bluebook citation skills; advanced Adobe Acrobat (OCR, bookmarks, redactions, PDF assembly).
• Research proficiency with LexisNexis/Lexis+ (including Lexis+ AI); comfort with additional tools a plus.
• High integrity, discretion, and professional client service; ability to work overtime and adjust hours to meet deadlines.

• Experience with APA/mandamus, habeas, FOIA, and civil-rights matters; familiarity with protective orders and sealing/redaction practice.
• Appellate experience in the Second, Sixth, Ninth, or other Circuits.
• Bilingual (Spanish and/or Arabic strongly preferred; other languages welcomed).
• Familiarity with and exposure to various case-management systems (e.g., Clio, LawLogix/eImmigration) and rules-based docketing tools.

On-site in our Los Angeles office; standard business hours (9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Pacific Time with one hour lunch from 1pm to 2pm) with open availability for overtime as needed. Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where confidentiality and precision are mandatory.

• Hourly Rate or Salary: $36-$38 per hour + overtime if hourly and discretionary bonus.
• Benefits: $250 monthly healthcare stipend (taxable); dental/vision; PTO/paid holidays; 401(k).
