Position: Oracle APEX Developer

Location: Boston, MA

Duratoin: Long Term Contract

Job Summary:
The Oracle APEX Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining APEX applications to support DTA's data strategy and reporting initiatives. This role requires expertise in Oracle APEX development and an understanding of data integration, reporting, and data warehouse concepts. The ideal candidate will work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to implement technical requirements efficiently, ensuring that APEX applications align with DTA's data strategy and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Application Development and Maintenance
    • Design, develop, and maintain Oracle APEX applications that align with DTA's business needs and data strategy.
    • Develop user interfaces, workflows, and application functionalities to ensure a seamless user experience.
    • Configure application features and functionalities, making use of Oracle database features and APEX components.
  2. Data Integration and Reporting
    • Implement new reporting features, dashboards, and data visualizations within APEX applications as per business requirements.
    • Work with data engineering teams to integrate data from the DTA Data Warehouse and external data sources, ensuring efficient data flows.
    • Design and develop data-driven features that support reporting and analytics, leveraging tools like Snowflake, Informatica, and Splunk as needed.
  3. Testing, Troubleshooting, and Optimization
    • Conduct unit testing and assist with end-to-end testing, ensuring APEX applications meet functional and performance requirements.
    • Troubleshoot application issues and bugs, providing timely resolutions to maintain high application reliability.
    • Continuously optimize application code, database queries, and data processing to improve application performance and scalability.
  4. Documentation and Support
    • Develop and maintain system documentation, including application design documents, data dictionaries, and configuration guides.
    • Create user guides and provide training to end-users on application functionalities.
    • Provide technical support and respond to inquiries from users and stakeholders, ensuring a high level of satisfaction with APEX applications.
  5. Research and Implementation of Best Practices
    • Stay updated on advancements in Oracle APEX, Oracle database features, and data warehousing technologies.
    • Identify opportunities to implement new features, tools, or best practices to enhance application functionality and efficiency.
    • Work with IT and data strategy teams to explore cloud-based data tools and technologies, especially Snowflake, to improve scalability and data accessibility.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 4+ years of experience in Oracle APEX development, with a strong background in database-driven applications and reporting solutions.
    • Experience with data integration and data warehouse concepts, especially ETL processes and reporting.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Oracle APEX, SQL, and PL/SQL.
    • Familiarity with database development tools (e.g., TOAD), data warehousing platforms (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Cognos).
    • Experience with Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Oracle APEX development or similar credentials.
  • Experience in cloud-based data platforms and integration technologies.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data protection, and security best practices.
