Pharmacy Assistant

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant at CoverMyMeds LLC provides essential support to the pharmacy team, ensuring efficient prescription processing, accurate inventory management, and excellent customer service, all while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

* Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions, including counting, pouring, and labeling medications.
* Maintain accurate patient records and prescription information within the pharmacy system.
* Manage pharmacy inventory, including receiving, stocking, and organizing medications and supplies, and identifying expired or damaged products.
* Process prescription refills and new prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
* Handle incoming phone calls, address patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
* Assist with the prior authorization process, including data entry and communication with healthcare providers.
* Ensure the pharmacy workspace is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and sanitation standards.
* Perform administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents.
* Provide friendly and helpful customer service to patients, addressing questions and concerns as appropriate.

Job Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Previous experience in a pharmacy setting or related healthcare field preferred.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
* Proficiency in basic computer skills and the ability to learn pharmacy software quickly.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations is a plus.
* Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
* Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
