We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute dedicated to investing in innovative thinkers and ideas that tackle the critical challenges facing our nation. Our Education Policy Program leverages original research and policy analysis to address pressing education issues, serving as a trusted resource for policymakers, educators, and the public.
We are currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Program Associate to join our Teaching, Learning, and Technology program. This dynamic team focuses on advancing the use of technology to create more equitable learning environments across both formal and informal settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Internship Coordination: Manage our summer internship program, connecting and mentoring post-secondary students interested in public interest technology with nonprofit organizations.
Research and Analysis: Conduct interviews and roundtable discussions with educators, policymakers, and tech professionals to identify challenges and opportunities in education.
Policy Development: Collaborate with the team to create policy recommendations that promote best practices and systemic changes, ensuring all students have access to meaningful learning experiences.
Resource Development: Provide tailored resources and support to educators and professionals working with students and families to bridge the digital divide.
Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate networks of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to identify challenges and develop strategies that ensure access to high-quality teaching and learning.
Spotlighting Best Practices: Identify and showcase effective uses of technology for youth in various learning environments.
Additional Duties:
Assist with planning and coordinating meetings, roundtables, and stakeholder convenings.
Support the organization of external events as needed.
Conduct supporting research and assist with writing blogs and briefs for the team.
Manage the reimbursement process for stakeholders and senior staff.
Be flexible and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of relevant professional experience are required. Experience in education or related fields is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively; candidates should be self-motivated, enthusiastic team players open to feedback.
Keen attention to detail and familiarity with tech platforms like Zoom, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in workplace dialogue.
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new skills and knowledge.
Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $58,000 to $62,000, depending on experience and competencies. We offer a competitive benefits package, including healthcare, dental, and vision coverage; a generous retirement plan; paid time off; observance of federal holidays; and an office-wide closure between Christmas and New Year's Day.
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid work schedule)
