ABOUT THE POSITION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Strategy Analyst will provide support on strategy development and will be a key member of the Foundations Program Development Team, which identifies and develops new partnerships and opportunities to advance our singular goal and current grantmaking initiatives.

The Program Strategy Analyst will conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis in support of grantmaking and strategic partnerships, planning, and executing key projects; prepare clear and compelling presentation materials; and may be involved in the initial screening of potential grantees, preparing docket materials, and monitoring ongoing grants.

Reporting to a Director of Program Development, the Program Strategy Analyst will also work closely with the grantmaking initiatives and New Initiative in Development teams, Chief of Staff and Planning, and VP of Program Development to support projects across the Foundations grantmaking portfolio, including opportunity identification and assessment, initiative strategy and research, new partnerships, and internal learning.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative research and analysis. Takes responsibility for identifying information sources, gathering and interpreting data, and sharing findings with grantmaking teams, Portfolio Management Team, Program Development Team, and colleagues across the organization. For example, this could include reviewing and synthesizing secondary research, engaging in primary interviews with experts and summarizing results, or developing financial and budget models. Provides teams with powerful facts and analyses that inform team questions and lead to improved strategic decision-making.
  • Prepares clear and compelling presentation materials. This will include PowerPoint presentations, Excel, and other tools. Presents findings in a compelling and clear fashion to team members, staff leaders, and external constituents as needed.
  • Provides project management support, participates in the planning and execution of projects, and participates in cross-functional teams, as assigned by Portfolio Management Team and/or Program Development Team.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the priorities for assigned initiatives and a working knowledge of the priorities of other initiative areas of the Foundation.
  • In coordination with assigned initiative team(s), provides grants administration support for the grantmaking process and the maintenance of active grants.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong desire to contribute to the mission of The James Irvine Foundation.
  • Bachelors degree and 3 to 4 years work experience related to the role; or a history and background that provides equivalent experience.
  • Experience in an analyst or junior consultant role, where quantitative and qualitative research and analysis was core. Management consulting experience a plus.

  • Good judgment with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
