Job Description: Your role as a product Senior Manager Production at Caterpillar is to manage the day-to-day operations of all shifts of a large facility or multiple manufacturing facilities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: - Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management team.
- Overseeing operations activities, ensuring that safety, and schedules and performance requirements are met and system resources are used effectively.
- Driving improvements for overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.
- Ensures the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forges a safe and sound manufacturing environment.
- Background and knowledge in fabrication, machining and assembly.
- BIQ (Built in Quality) and lean manufacturing experience.
What Skills you will have: Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Level Extensive Experience:
•Interprets results of quantitative and statistical tools and explains results to others.
•Communicates key benefits of a quality management process.
•Conducts and directs quality reviews.
•Develops expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards.
•Develops quality assurance processes based on Six Sigma, ISO 9000 or Baldrige principles.
•Develops programs for motivating employees to meet or exceed quality goals.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Level Working Knowledge:
•Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance.
•Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.
•Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.
•Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand.
•Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions.
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

•Updates stakeholders on potential changes; re-negotiates requirements as necessary.
•Identifies the critical goals and tasks required to meet daily objectives.
•Develops contingency plans or to improve processes and to avoid problems before they occur.

Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.

•Ensures performance goals, checkpoints, and feedback focus on behaviors.
•Provides documented input to formal performance review conducted by manager.

Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
Level Extensive Experience:
•Monitors organizational adherence to policies and procedures.
•Facilitates communications across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the plant or facility.
•Evaluates the risks and safety hazards present in manufacturing operations.
•Recommends key industry benchmarks of manufacturing operations and relates to own organization.
•Supervises daily operations to ensure production targets and forecasts are achieved.
•Employs tools and techniques for anticipating demand and assuring capacity.
Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Level Extensive Experience:
•Consults on the use of new tools and techniques for safety protection.
•Performs safety inspections to assure compliance with OSHA requirements.
•Designs and implements emergency response processes and procedures.
•Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.
•Assesses and reports unusual or new safety hazards or violations; initiates corrective action.
•Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Level Working Knowledge:
•Contributes to the development and implementation of specific manufacturing procedures.
•Investigates the need to refer potential exceptions upward for review and approval.
•Explains the rationale for procedures and standards in own area of responsibility.
•Participates in the implementation of manufacturing standards and procedures to one's own function.
•Provides feedback for improvement of procedures.
Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.
Level Working Knowledge:
•Follows existing procedures to set up, stage and ensure proper job completion.
•Identifies demand patterns; implements demand management processes.
•Coordinates appropriate production documentation and authorizations.
•Confirms production requirements and lead times beforehand; assists in setting up production jobs.
•Diagnoses and addresses production problems using established guidelines.
