Job Description

A Special Education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025/2026 school year at a middle school setting in Hixson, TN. This contract position begins on August 1, 2025, and is focused on a self-contained CDC classroom.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering specialized instruction to a caseload of six students with diverse needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Downs Syndrome, and medical fragility.
• Collaborating with support staff, including a dedicated nurse, to address the medical and educational requirements of the students.
• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique learning goals.
• Maintaining accurate records of student progress and participating in parent and team meetings.
• Ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Desired qualifications and experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification.
• Experience working with students with ASD, Downs Syndrome, and medically fragile conditions preferred.
• Ability to create individualized lesson plans and implement behavioral strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with nursing and support staff.
