Job Details

• Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to ICU patients.
• Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
• Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in care planning and evaluation.
• Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, discharge planning, and delegation.
• Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition, health promotion, and disease prevention.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
• Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient engagement activities.
• Considers patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and needs in care.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Uses evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
• Initiates service recovery and escalates concerns appropriately.
• Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
• Supports staff use of evidence-based practices to improve patient care understanding.
• Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing patient needs.
• Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement.
• Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in ICU patient population.
• Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.
• Engages in peer and institutional review processes.
• Collaborates on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research.
• Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.
• Implements high reliability principles to avoid high risk behaviors and ensure patient safety.
• Escalates safety hazards or gaps following institutional protocols.
• Utilizes institutional IT for documentation supporting quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) licensure required in New York.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
