Job Description

We are seeking a  Pipe layer for underground utilities to join our team. In this role, you will support worksite operations through Installation and alteration of various types of Water/Sewer/Storm. The position requires the use of manual labor, use of power tools and measuring devices, laying pipes . Knowledge of underground pipe installation and modification is recommended. The ideal candidate is a hard worker with the ability to meet the physical demands of the job.

• Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems
• Cut pipes to required lengths
• Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
• Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue
• Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools
• Train others in pipe-laying techniques
• Other General Labor and construction related duties as required.

• Maintain a clean work environment by picking up trash, excess building materials, or other potentially hazardous products
• Provide assistance to onsite tradespeople such as Operators, Underground Pipe Journeyman
• Transport materials and equipment from one location to another
• Operate power tools and/or industrial equipment
• Set up cones and warning signs to increase visibility
• Construct, transfer, and tear down temporary structures such as barricades, pumps, stands
• Other manual labor tasks as required by the foreman or supervisor
• Report any unsafe conditions or equipment in need of repair

Qualifications

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects, digging, and standing for long periods
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Ability to adhere to all safety rules and regulations
• Knowledge of power tools and industrial machinery is preferred
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Additional certifications or apprenticeship experience is preferred but not necessary

Urgently need a skilled underground/general laborer for an underground excavation company. You must be able to follow direction adequately and be a team player. Must be on time and willing to travel within Houston county limits. You will be performing a variety of tasks such as hand digging, helping put pipe together, keeping job site clean, etc. This is a Monday - Friday job. Starting wage will increase based on experience.
