Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Concrete Superintendent located in Charleston, SC. The Concrete Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all concrete operations on-site, including planning, coordinating, and managing labor, materials, and equipment. Daily tasks will include supervising formwork installations, monitoring heavy equipment usage, managing flatwork projects, ensuring the quality of ready mix concrete, and coordinating with carpentry teams as needed. The role requires ensuring safety protocols are followed, solving any on-site issues that arise, and maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Strong organizational and communication skills

5+ years of progressive experience in field management for a large-scale Self-Perform General Contractor or Concrete Contractor

Experience with self-performing concrete work is required

Familiarity with a variety of project types, with an emphasis on structural concrete

General knowledge of construction principles and practices, with experience managing projects over $1-$10 million

  • Experience with Formwork and Ready Mix Concrete
  • Knowledge of operating and supervising Heavy Equipment
  • Proficiency in managing Flatwork projects
  • Skills in Carpentry related to concrete work
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Previous experience in overseeing construction sites is preferable

Responsibilities

The General Superintendent will work closely with area leadership and multiple project teams, providing operational support to ensure successful project outcomes Supervise, direct, and develop the project team, setting clear expectations and responsibilities

Lead the development of an overall project plan and ensure alignment with team objectives

Take ownership of project information, delivering status updates to relevant stakeholders

Validate project progress and provide recommendations to meet execution goals

Align manpower resources to meet project demands and execution targets

Ensure the project team follows defined processes and that roles and responsibilities are properly executed

Maintain strong customer relationships by staying engaged throughout the project

Communicate with customer management to resolve any conflicts or issues during the project lifecycle
