OUR STORY THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE is a charter member of Major League Baseball's National League. HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE The Chicago Cubs are looking to hire a Machine Learning Engineer in Baseball Analytics to own technical design of core model infrastructure and support the MLOps initiatives of the department. In this role, you will contribute to data-driven decision-making throughout the organization by improving the efficiency and reliability of tools shared by our talented team of data analysts. The ideal candidate will be a strong computer scientist and have experience throughout the machine learning lifecycle - from data preparation to model deployment. THE DAY-TO-DAY: Improve Internal Model Infrastructure: Design, implement, and optimize common modeling tools and workflows to standardize and streamline analysis done by individual Data Scientists. Execute Model Tuning, Training, and Deployment: Assist with oversight and monitoring of hyperparameter tuning and model training workflows. Work with our MLOps and Systems teams to refine deployment processes and ensure reliable model updates. Establish Code and Documentation Standards: Lead the technical standards for our model codebase, in addition to solidifying processes designed to encourage transferability and maintainability of our model implementations. Innovate our Technologies: Stay up-to-date with the latest research in machine learning and AI, applying new techniques to improve model accuracy, scalability, and performance.
