The Summer Sports Chief is responsible for student-produced sports content across print, website, and social media channels of The Daily Barometer and OMN Sports. Responsibilities include assigning, coordinating, and managing sports coverage, including stories, highlights, and multimedia content. The employment dates are from June 16 to September 8, 2025, with a pay rate of 20 hours per week totaling $1,316 per month. Responsibilities Coordinate sports coverage, pitch, assign, and edit stories, and determine multimedia needs. Assist in sports page design and review pages prior to publication. Coordinate radio broadcasts and select games for coverage. Update social media and website with current content. Hold weekly meetings, train staff, review content for accuracy, and ensure ethical standards. Manage credentials, ensure timely coverage, and foster audience engagement. Attend meetings, build relationships, and ensure content aligns with OMN’s mission. Respond promptly to communications and follow all policies and procedures. Work 20 hours/week during regular business hours, with flexibility for nights and weekends. Maintain professional conduct and promote inclusivity in content. Qualifications Must be enrolled in a high school, community college, or university, meeting specific enrollment and academic standing requirements. Additional qualifications include knowledge of news gathering, fact-checking, AP Style, and experience in coaching, stakeholder engagement, and previous OMN staff involvement. International students may carry fewer hours with proper approval. Preferred Qualifications Prior paid or volunteer OMN staff experience for at least 12 months and participation in OMN Fall training are preferred.
